PAK’nSAVE Timaru

Project Description

Pak’n’Save Timaru embarked on a large building extension and refurbishment of their premises.

Ranger Specialist Coatings were commissioned to install specialised flooring in the two main entrances, fruit and vegetable section, check out aisles, cafe and trolley bay.

An engineered resin floor coating system – Allnex Architectural Terrazite, was used. This product, often mistaken for polished concrete, has a unique blend providing an extremely hardwearing, impact-resistant and easy to clean surface that can withstand the high-volume foot traffic and trolley abrasion of a busy supermarket environment.

The previously tiled area was ground down to provide a ‘keyed’ surface to prime with Allnex ZV primer embedded with fibreglass matting to form a seamless surface. The resin and marble aggregate mix was then applied. Due to the expansive area of the new floor, expansion and control joints were included to match the underlying concrete foundation and prevent cracking.

The surfaces were finished with a clear solvent-based polymer to provide durability, water-resistance and non-yellowing colour and UV protection.
