Talbot Forest Cheese – Temuka

Project Description

Hygienic, slip resistant, and easy-clean surfaces were essential requirements for this cheese manufacturing facility.

After a large amount of concrete prefill to create sections and falls in the 1200m2 floor area, Nuplex Traxite was laid in the lower traffic areas where machinery such as forklifts wouldn’t be used. Nuplex SureShield was applied in the main processing area to cope with higher traffic and ingredients used during processing.

Floors were completed with curved 150mm coving and aluminium arrowhead along the bottom of the walls for easy cleaning.

In addition, Talbot Forest Cheese required specialised coating work on the new brine tank and the floor of the brine tank hall. A brine tank is critical equipment in a cheese factory and must be completely watertight to prevent leaks or the entry of external groundwater or contaminants. It also needs to withstand high salinity and ensure the products used do not leach any materials that may compromise the food safety of the cheese products.

To achieve this Ranger Specialist Coatings used a vinyl ester resin-based seamless glass fibre reinforced cladding system. This was inspected and approved by the Ministry for Primary Industries.
