Waimate Hotel

Project Description

The Waimate Hotel is an iconic two-story building built in 1902 has been granted a new lease of life after receiving an extensive makeover both inside and out.

The client’s vision was to create ‘the best high-end eatery in the town’.

Exterior paintwork has transformed a tired, non-descript commercial façade into a fresh landmark building with great street appeal.

Inside the building features a large amount of exposed steel work, timber panelling and exposed brick cladding.

Stained plywood wall panelling provides a hardwearing, practical finish to wall areas which will receive on-going knocks from chairs, tables and vacuuming, an inevitable reality of a commercial environment.

Reclaimed heart Rimu creates a standout feature of the new central staircase. Stair treads and risers have been enriched in depth and colour from Allnex Crystal Seal.

Original double height brick cladding has been retained and exposed and protected with clear sealer.

Wallpaper has added personality to this new restaurant, including clever and unexpected coverings expertly applied to the ceilings in the restrooms.

A seamless, non-slip, hygienic resin flooring was laid in the commercial kitchen to provide a serviceable, compliant workspace for the restaurant team.
