Home Renovation – Interior

Project Description

In desperate need of love and attention this rundown weatherboard cottage, nestled on a quiet lifestyle block in South Canterbury, underwent a year-long make over.

The homeowners wanted a distinctive look to portray their own style – a fresh, modern interior with huge personality.

Built in 1920 this home had years of built up wallpaper over wallpaper, varying skirting boards and coving, room additions and unlevel timber floors making a patchy starting canvas.

Careful preparation and extensive wallboard plastering provided the best possible surfaces for clean paint and wallpaper finishes.

Soft colours and patterns were paired with contrasting fun and quirky wallpapers alongside subtle pops of colour.

The dining room features bold, contemporary paper that was hung horizontally. This provided a technical challenge for the Ranger Specialist Coatings team but added a new dimension to the pattern, replicating the hills of the rural outlook.

Standing proudly, separating the different living spaces and housing the TV and fireplace on opposing sides is a floating wall clad in timber battens with Resene Nocturnal negative detail.

The bathroom shower base was custom made by Ranger Specialist Coatings. Constructed from specialised resin products, sand, stone and aggregate the product replicates a polished concrete look but with improved functionality specifically designed for wet areas.
